Address |
The location to which mail items are delivered. It consists of certain elements such as recipient name, street name and house number, city, state, and postal code as required by the type of mail. |
Addressee |
The person or organisation to which mail is addressed as shown in the delivery address. |
Air Mail |
International mail which is sent by air from country to country rather than shipped by sea or land. Also often known as ‘Priority’ |
Airway Bill |
The form to complete when sending an Express Courier shipment with FLIP Post. The Airway Bill should contain full details of the sender, addressee and contents of the shipment. Please note that courier shipments can not be sent to PO box addresses. |

Plastic wrapping material made up of small air pockets. This can be used to wrap fragile items for postage. |
Bulk Mail |
Bulk International Mailings include the mass sending of catalogues, reports, promotional materials, invitations and greetings cards. FLIP Post offers substantial discounts for large volumes of post for overseas delivery. |

CN22 |
A postal customs declaration form to be used when sending mail items with a value of up to 300 SDR (approximately $400). The CN22 is in the form of small green adhesive labels, which should be completed and placed on the mail item. |
CN23 |
A postal customs declaration form to be used when sending mail items with a value of over 300 SDR (approximately $400). This form should be completed in triplicate and all three copies attached to the mail item. |
Commercial Invoice |
A commercial invoice is required for courier shipments containing any item other than documents. The commercial invoice is the basis for foreign Customs' identification, classification, duty/tax assessment, and final approval of entry of the goods. Accurate descriptions help expedite the clearance process by helping Customs quickly identify your commodity. Please click here to see an example of a commercial invoice. A commercial invoice is not required for items sent as mail. |
Commercial Mail Receiving Agency (CMRA) |
A private business that acts as the mail-receiving agent for specific clients. |
Consolidation Point |
The point where mail routes converge and mail is consolidated and forwarded for onward dispatch. (Also called Gateway. ) |
Contraband |
Goods or merchandise whose importation or exportation is forbidden. Weapons, cash, ammunition, gold silver, narcotics and pornography are all forbidden for import in to Russia. Please click here for list of items that are forbidden for exporting from Russia. |
Correct Address Format |
There are certain address elements required on all mail items. These include the intended recipient's name, a house or building number and street name (plus apartment/suite number, if applicable), or a post office box number and city, state or state abbreviation, and Postal Code. The address should be written in the lower right-hand corner of the envelope, with space above for the postage paid indent. Please click here to view an example of the correct address format. Please note that Express Courier shipments can not be addressed to PO Box addresses. |

The location (destination) to which mail is delivered. The piece must show the address of the addressee (intended recipient) on the side bearing the postage. It is usually placed at the lower right. |
Duty |
A customs tax which is payable on imported items. Occasionally an export duty may be applied to items sent out of Russia. |

Parcel |
A parcel is larger than a letter and usually contains non-document items. |

Post Denmark |
The national Danish post office. |
Poste Restante |
A Poste Restante Mailbox is a low cost rented private mailbox. A FLIP Post Poste Restante Mailbox enables the customer to receive mail from overseas using our international gateways. |
Postmark |
A postal cancellation imprint on letters flats and parcels. The imprint shows date code of the post office that accepted custody of the mail item. |

Recipient |
A recipient is an authorised user of a FLIP Post account. Although all incoming mail from our receiving addresses should be headed with a FLIP Post account number, we do ask all account holders to provide us with a list of recipients for that account so that we may attempt to identify any incorrectly addressed items. |
Return Address |
This is usually placed in the upper left corner of the mail item to indicate the address of the sender. This address indicates where the sender wants the mail returned if it is undeliverable. |
Royal Mail |
